Coronavirus: Twenty-four cases (1%) of COVID-19 in Donegal as Irish death toll rises to 67

Twenty-four cases (1%) of COVID-19 confirmed in the south by midnight on Friday were in Donegal, the National Public Health Emergency Team have confirmed.

There have now been 3025 confirmed cases in Ireland - 2615 in the south and 410 in the north.

Sixty-seven people have now died from the illness in Ireland - 46 in the south and 21 in the north.

Today’s data from the HPSC in Dublin reveal that, as of midnight, Friday, March 27, (2,216 cases), 51% are male and 48% are female, with 103 clusters involving 379 cases.

The median age of confirmed cases is 47 years and 564 cases (26%) have been hospitalised.

Of those hospitalised, 77 cases have been admitted to ICU.

506 cases are associated with healthcare workers.

In Donegal there were 24 confirmed cases (1%), a rise of nine from 15 on Thursday.

Dublin has the highest number of cases at 1,233 (56% of all cases) followed by Cork with 208 cases (9%)

Of those for whom transmission status is known, community transmission accounts for 49%, close contact accounts for 24%, and travel abroad accounts for 25%.
